I just got back to this thread. ROFL. what a rabble rouser I am! We have a great community here. Of course we wouldn't gang up on another board (usually) but it is fun to joke about.

Tina,
I'm glad you are feeling a little better. Retail therapy does wonders for me, too. Shoooooooezzzzz....

Tina, I think you did fine. You didn't go, "Hey I think your kid is autistic!" You just mentioned that the development might seem uneven to the doctor and at least they are paying attention and pointing it out.

Personally, I KNEW something was not exactly wrong, but definitely not typical with my first boy. When I mentioned my concerns to friends or family, they almost acted like I was overanxious or just inexperienced with babies. All I got were stock reassurances that weren't very reassuring because I really felt something was off. I would have been GRATEFUL for someone to have said, "Hey, there may be some issues we can look into here." That mom on the BB may have some nagging worries in the back of her mind and your comments may have actually been what she needed to hear and to know she doesn't have an overactive imagination. She might be more encouraged to go check it out and find out if there's anything to the doctor's concerns.

I think as long as you are tactful it's good to share that information. I understand your reticence to mention your son's ASD, but it can't hurt to say you have experience with special (or high) needs kids. It wouldn't be a lie, and maybe they might send a private message asking for more info, and then you could be more specific? I don't know if that board does that or if you'd be comfortable with that, though. At any rate, I think you absolutely did the right thing and don't think you came on too strong or anything like that.
