Waiting is the worst

Of all the special ed mom things I have gone through I think waiting is the WORST. Waiting for test results. Waiting for appointments. Waiting for diagnosis. I hate waiting.

Cait had her MRI done last night. I had to call today to give them the fax number for the neuro's office. The MRI lady (who was THE NICEST and FUNNIEST person I have ever talked to on the phone in this kind of thing) did tell me it was done and faxed to my primary doc.

So I call them and ask for results AND I get the "give us your number and we will have the nurse call you back"

So the test is done, the results are in and I am stuck here WAITING and WAITING. Grrr. I don't do waiting very well.

BTW, gotta tell ya about this lady. She does the "I have to wait for the computer can I put you on hold" and starts singing into the phone one of the usual songs with an over dramatic voice. This was how the whole call went. At least she made my day.

((((((Renee))))))),

I was afraid it was going to be "we think we found something, we need more tests". I am so sorry, because that is really worse than the worst.

I think a hyperintense leision could be more than one thing -not just MS.

LOL Paula, I wasn't thinking it was MS. It is just that the only information I could find when I did a search of her results was MS. I think it is seizure related but I don't know if this means that she has always had this "lesion" which is teh cause of all the problems, if the lesion is the result of the seizures.

My concern is that with the recent increase in symptoms that this is something that is a progressive type problem whether it is the chicken or egg.

I did more searching and "lesions" can be a tumor, or it can be from something like one of those neurofibromitosis things.

I spoke to a friend tonight who's son passed from special needs related issues. Come to find out one of his biggest issues in the end was seizures. She did tell me that a lesion in the white matter wouldn't be a mistake read from her braces which is something I thought. That they likely are complaining about the braces because they couldn't get good reads in other areas and they want to see those better since they did find something in the white matter. So the lesion is definitely there. Her son had many and likely related to the epilepsy. We only had a minute to talk and that was the only info I could get out of her. We are more aquaintance friends. We go to the same church and our kids keep getting in the same activities. Her dd is on my basketball team (yeah, I am coaching Dave's team).

If you recall I once told a story of how sweet Mike was to this boy with profound disabilities. I think I also mentioned about the boy getting more delayed(wearing a helmet and in a wheelchair) and worrying it was progressive? That was her son. He died a few months ago. She was really kind and helpful but since I was coaching I had like a minute to talk to her. I will ask her more on Tuesday.
