We are heading down the path of ODD

Okay, I have had time to chill out and talk to my husband. We couldn't connect earlier because one or the other was taking care of out-of-control boy. Neither one of us knows what has triggered this devilish child but I have come up with an idea. He will be grounded for tomorrow while I implement plan "Mom Cash." I have always told him he can earn privileges back but I don't think that registers with him. In comes "Mom Cash." I have used this in the classroom and I don't see why it won't work at home. I make up Monopoly-like money and give it to him for any positive behavior that I see fit. He has to save and manage his "mom" money. He is going to have to buy back his birthday toys (taken away earlier today for acts of aggression and defiance) for a substantial amount of mom money. I want to see some kind of improvement before I just give things back. I'm thinking of using this long term for other rewards as well, like "buying" exclusive time for plain old play with mom or dad (like an uninterrupted half hour doing whatever he wants to do), being allowed to watch a movie in front of the tv and eat dinner, and so on (get the idea?). The mom money will have no real cash value, so we are going to make it clear that this is not exchangable for real money and we will not buy him presents with it. Please wish me luck with this as I am DESPERATE to find a way out of this vicious circle we have found ourselves in.
