Thank you for all the P&PTs. Mike had a much better day today though he was really off and autistic. If is funny, I know we have mentioned here before when the kids are really sick they are more connected and normal? That is how he was when he was in a good place with lots of pain meds. Today after all the ordeal and feeling better he was definitely more his usual self plus.
The day went mostly well until they told him it was time to take out the IV. Lets just say that Mike STILL has his medical fears despite what my DH said about this getting him over that.
We got home just about the time the other kids were starting thier karate evaluations. Mike decided he wanted to go and watch the class and didn't want to miss it even though he knew he couldn't participate. The sensei was so impressed he passed Mike without the evaluation so he doesn't miss his next belt.
It was very sweet seeing the kids back together. They had obviously missed each other and Mike is so happy to be home. Other than moving stiffly and slowly and the occasional (OW OW) He looks like his old self.

Renee,
I've been away from the boards for so long but read your above post regarding Mike and his ordeal and literally began crying. I'm glad to hear he's better and I know it must have been very draining for you to watch him try to deal with all of the chaos that comes with something like that. Keeping you in my prayers, Vicky
It's so good to hear that he's recovering okay. I know a kid who had appendicitis with surgery complications, and it was a month before she could leave the hospital (or eat).
Will Mike be starting school on the first day, do you think?
Keep us posted.
Evelyn
I'm glad your home. I'll be sending prayers that his healing is quick and he can get back to all of his activities soon.

Yay! I'm glad you are back home. I missed the whole deal because I wasn't here on the board much, but I've read through the posts. The hospital must have been very challenging for him and he must have been so brave. It's amazing how brave they can be, isn't it?

Renee,
I am so glad to hear Mike is home again. What a relief! But I know even after you are home it takes awhile to recover from major surgery like that. Still keeping you all in our prayers and happy for the good news.

Holy Mother of God!
I was just catching up on stuff and I read what had happened. Poor Mike doesn't catch a break, does he?

he is getting spoiled for the most part. Just started doing his school work for when he is missing. The mainstream teacher is a dear but she is expecting typical student stuff out of him. Guess we shall see if he can tow the line in mainstream, eh?
HOwever, I am learning from this that if push came to shove for next year, I thikn I could homeschool the Mikester. He is the king of routine and once in a routine would work easily. he also does better 1:1. Cait needs the external structure of school. I have tried to homeschool her 2 times and each was horrible. (Sorry Cait). She does better for other teachers.
He is on the mend and looking so much better each day. It was quite traumatic. I had to take Cait to the neuro today and she needed a blood test for her trileptal. Well she had a problem with it to. I just had to hold onto her hug wise and make her put her arm out, but she didn't fight once we did that. Still, I SOOOOOO did not need to be doing that crap again.
Who is spoiling me? NO ONE! I am so ready to get rid of everyone. Ok, Mike is spoiling me with sweetness and loving (happy to be home I guess) but that is IT!. I swear no one can function without me. DH couldn't figure out how to feed Mike lunch while I took Cait to the neuro. "Um he doesn't want peanut butter and jelly" Well friggen get creative, problem solve, geez. I was supposed to be home around noon to give Mike lunch and start his school work with him. We made him a schedule and everything. I got stuck behind because of the blood draw fiasco and wasn't home until 1:30. Did dad bother to stick to Mike's schedule? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I had to deal with it all when I got home at 1:30 and even by then transitioning Mike into work from his day long of electronics with dad was not fun. GRRRRRRR
My MOTHER can't deal without me either. She is having bunco at her house tomorrow night and keeps calling ME to find out who is coming and did I call this one or that. She does this all the time. She will have something she is supposed to do and is unsure of herself because it is something new. She asks for my help and suddenly it is totally on me and she is calling constantly to make sure I have done it. I know she is just anxious. I also know my mom has un-dx'ed learning disabilities and this is her way of coping but COME ON!
Same with the kids, same with everyone.
Can I have my wine with my whine. Time to go help Mike with mainstream 5th grade spelling. Why on earth do they give out worksheets with flipping complex directions? It is spelling for god sakes. The kid can already spell all these words but is having the darnest time doing the worksheets. Grrrrrrrr
