Holy crap.....apparently we are entitled to sooooooo much more! The state advocate dropped by today (erxpected appt). She also has two boys's with ASD (one more affceted than the other). Told us Liam is entitled to respite, and appartently $20,000 worth of Natural Famiy support. Basically it means we can get respite, OT/Hippotherapy/speech support and the state will pick up the first $20,000!!!!! She is planning to get us respite while we wait for the response to our request for the waier for medicaid. Dang.. Amy, bet TX doesn't offer all that?!

HOLY CRAP!!!!!!

That is it! I am moving to Georgia. 20K! OMFG! DANG!

I have been paying $80 a month here for hippotherapy for years and that is a cheaper rate because it is non-profit place that really barely makes ends meet. Add on top of that what I pay for every thing else and you CAN"T even get most services here. I have stopped fighting.

Oh I could get MT, OT, social groups, hippotherapy, oh oh oh oh oh.

You got room?

Holy Crapola!!! Okay, now please tell me this is not based on income level!?!?! Not that DH makes that much, but every other state seems to take income into account.

Alright, alright...I'll forward this info. on to my hubby!!!

You know, I'm beginning to think you've got special "draw Amy to Georgia" powers!

Okay, of course DH has tons of questions...

How'd you get hooked up with a state advocate?

Is the $20K before or after Medi.?

Is it based on the medical diagnosis, or do they do "other" testing for their purposes?

Hmmm...might be smarter to pick up the phone and call you!!!

Hi Liza, this is probably the ebst site to help you. I hate the fact that it's under mental retardation, but apparently that's where autism lies in terms of gtting $$$ and support. The waiver that allosa ccess to the money for services is called the Natural Supports Waiver. Our avocate seemed to think we would qualify, and Liam is pretty high functioning.
