I feel your pain (*goes off whistling the tune while cleaning the kitchen*)
Now I am going to have that darn tune stuck in my head ALL DAY LONG!

let's not forgot our favorite books....Everyone Poops and The Gas We Pass......still big hits around our house.

ROFL!!! The Gas We Pass -- I'm definitely going to have to get that one. Last night at the dinner table Sylvia passed gas in a big way, and Sebastian looked up and with great excitement said, "An elephant!"

Oh yeah...they'll love it...there is a picture (cartoon) of a big elephant butt on the cover with it's tail swished to the side and a puff of gas coming out....classic!
LOL,

Like you, we started with the school in January last year. Eric was almost 3. He was not really ready then, but we figured we'd try. Nothing much happened. When he turned 3 in April, I took a class at our local ASD parent support group. I ditched the pull-ups all together and went to taking Eric to pee on schedule. I also posted a picture schedule by the potty. He was trained to pee on command this way within a month. Then he started to let us know he had to pee etc. within about another month.
BM's are a totally different manner. We just had our one year anniversary of potty training and peeing is great, pooping as about a 70% probability. He pees standing big boy style, but had a fear of sitting on the toilet. We had to use a gradual reward system to get him to do bm's and I think he is on the verge of being 100% but it has been a slow haul.
First we rewarded him for going into the bathroom. Then rewarded him for sitting on the potty with his clothes on, seat closed, then for clothes on, seat open, then for undies off etc. He got a "Las Vegas prize package" for actually doing it in the potty. This process took about 5 months.
Now he either has to run to get there in time, or sits for an hour. I think he still can't always feel for sure when he has to do a bm. But at least he is trying and we are out of pull-ups and not having many accidents.
He will pee in a public place, but bm's are still a struggle and he'll withold.
Yes, it seems to be a struggle for our kids, but I feel pretty sure he'll have the whole thing completed by his 4th bday in April.
Still, it's hard when one of his girl cousins, now age 18 mos. is already on the verge of
being potty trained. (Overachiever!) But of course she is already talking too and Eric couldn't say a word at 18 mos.!
Good luck, as you can see, you are not alone!
Also, spray and wash, febreze, air freshners have become staples!
