So what first? messed up blood tests. Messed up MRI? Impending 5 day hospital stay? Or police coming to my house?

Oh what the heck, I will start with the police. IT is actually kind of humorous if you have an Aspie and can relate.

I was teaching and being observed by my principal on Thursday when a call came to the classroom. Cait's bus driver was at my house and can't find Cait. The door is open and there is a key in the door. She is yelling into the house but no Cait. SOOOO they called the police and the police are on their way. I guess according to neighbors there was a full on raid at my house. My aide is teaching at this point and my lovely principal says he will come back another day.

The police man arrives while I am on the phone. I hear they found her and the police man wants my cell number so he can call me. He found Cait in the back of the house standing with her back pack on and would not move or go with him. I explained that Cait has Aspergers and is likely a bit freaked out. He let me talk to her which I did and she then went with them, got on the van they had gotten and went to school. I called her special ed teacher and she met her there.

What happened was Cait was waiting for the bus when she had to go to the bathroom. Cait has a routine where about 5 min. before the bus is due she waits at the door with her key in it so she can lock up easily. Well she left the door wide open while she went potty instead of locking up again like she should. THen when the lady came to the door she didn't answer she was home because the bus lady is not on our list of people she can answer the door for. By the time the police got there she was totally shut down. Of course she did the right thing and tried to call me but I didn't have my cell on me. Dumb mommy.

THe rest of this is less confusing:
As I mentioned in the past, Cait has been having more seizure like/neurologic symptoms. Double vision, etc. We finally got the blood test and MRI. THe MRI is incomplete because of her braces but they did find a lesion. It may be nothing as the lesion is nonspecific. We are supposed to do another one with "contrast" to know for sure but the doctor thinks it is useless until she gets her braces off.

THe blood test came back with a level of <1 for her trileptal. It looks like she never takes it that way. Either the lab screwed up or the pharmacy gave us the wrong meds. The pharmacy giving the wrong meds would explain the increase in activity we can't get to stop HOWEVER it is the most unlikely since the meds "looked" right and are not generic. There is no generic fro her med.

Finally, since we don't know if her symptoms are seizures or not and don't occur daily (usually a few times a week) the doctor wants a 5 day video EEG which means we will be admitted to the hospital for 5 days. Waiting for the approval to come through on that one.

UGH!

((((RENEE))))

I had to laugh at the Cait/police story. Only an aspie/autie parent could relate! I know it wasn't funny, but so so so true.

I'm sorry the MRI and blood tests didn't help! hope the hospital stay isn't awful.

Oh, Renee,

That is quite the week. Let's hear it for understanding bosses! (I'm assuming that the principal suggested rescheduling with her nice voice.)

I had a week from H-E-double candy canes myself.

How in the world are you going to do 5 whole days in a hospital???? I can't even imagine.

Let me send you a nice wine. Do you like it sweet or a with a bit-o-oak?

That is odd about the meds. I guess they will be weanign her off anyway for the VEEG? I am so sorry you are going through all this. Especially at this time of year.

I had a 4 day VEEG in Feb. Not fun.
