Hi Dee!

Congrats on the successful move! They do not rate moving as one of the most stressful events in life for nothing.

I too have 2 boys - Michae (5) Sean (3). Michael has sensory integration issues as well as ADHD (possibly, and we are not ruling out Aspie like characteristics). He has been a child of extremes since the beginning. Sean, has been rather easy. He set his own schedule from the time he came home from the hospital. The difference in disciplining the boys is that Michael raises your blood pressure - so you need to leave the room; Sean is an actor and comedian and extremely dramatic - so you need to leave the room so that he does not see you laugh! Sean is receiving speech and I'm convinced that he has been a slower talker because his brother has always done his talking for him. Michael was speaking in full sentences by 18 months and has an amazing vocabulary. I have often said that I felt that I was a bad mother or doing something wrong until Sean was both. When your first child is high needs - it really effects your confidence as a parent. Not to mention the 2 cents you get from every member of the family - i.e. he needs a good spanking, when he was a baby they told us to let him cry to sleep - well we tried that and he would cry for an hour and make himself through up - he had reflux. Now, at least I know that my instincts have always been right and I try not to take the "old school" parents' advice.

I hope you get the answers you need soon, now that someone is taking you seriously. Some Dr.s do treat us as "over-reactive" moms. I am lucky now to have a ped who believes a mom's instinct is usually right.

Keep us posted.

(P.S. How much time did you spend in Ireland. DH & I spent two weeks in Ireland when I was first pregnant with Michael. We loved it and can't wait to go back some day - I especially would like to be able to drink the Guiness next time!!! LOL.

Glad you made the move safe and sound.

The new pdoc sounds pretty good. Hopefully she will have some ideas for you. I understand the meds frustrations. That is how it was with Mike. Still is in many ways as it is hard to find something that works without horrible side effects. If he is having trouble with cognitive dulling on what he is on you probably don't want to try depakote as I hear that is a side effect of that one often. What is Liam on that is causing that? I worry about Cait's trileptal for that kind of thing but I won't really know until she goes back to school and we see how she does next year.

Good luck on the new school and class. Hopefully it goes better than expected. Hope Cian's preschool eval goes well too.

Hey, Dave had/has a speech delay and lined up loads of things too. I think for Dave it was all just sensory and a pigheaded personality. The pigheadedness is getting to be a bit much but he is still much more managable and reachable.

Hi Renee,

Liam was on trileptal for a while but I never really noticed dulling with that; it just did nothing at all.
