My son is on the waiting list for an evaluation at Kennedy Krieger Institute in Maryland. Can anyone tell me what to expect from an evaluation? How long do they usually last? Are you given the results the same day or do you have to wait? Are there several people (evaluators) involved or just one person? What types of things do they do? I'd really appreciate any info or experiences. I'm told the wait can be 4 - 6 months and it's driving me crazy.
Thanks.

For our eval, we went to our local center for developmental disabilities. And I was lucky to only have a 2 month wait. There were 2 dev. ped., an OT, and SLP. Basically, I answered a lot of questions and they observed Jacob play. Well, he was only 6 months at the timeso I guess he was kind of playing. We were there for about an hour and a half. They were able to give me some thoughts as to what was going on. They gave me a rating on each scale (gross motor, fine, language, and adaptive behavior)as to where he was in development. At that time he was age appropriate for everything except gross motor. I continue to go to these appts every few months. We were just there at the end of Oct. They are still not willing to dx him with PDD b/c he is so young.
GOod luck
