What now??

So my 3 year old daughter, Lily was just diagnosed with Asperger's. I am currently in the process of getting her enrolled in an Early Intervention Program. I've made some phone calls to her school district and basically been told to call everyone who happens to be on vacation this week. And my doctor said to apply for Medical Assistance, so I picked up the application today. What now? It's weird. I've been working with children with autism for over 5 years and I never stopped to think of how they got to me. I just show up at work and they're there. But now I have to get my daughter to someone who's gonna work with her, and I don't know how...does that make sense to anyone but me? So, what is my next step? How exactly do you get from diagnosis to treatment? HELP!!

As she is already three, you are better off bypassing EI and going

What's the medical assistance that you're applying for? I've never heard anything about it before.

Hi! Welcome to the group! My youngest dd's name is Lily too! I know it's frustrating trying to get something done in the summer time. It seems like all the people you need to talk to aren't back to work yet due to summer vacation. I don't have any advice on the medical assistance, as my state (TX) doesn't have any such thing. I sure wish we did. Good luck getting things rolling with the EI program. It will happen, but unfortunately it takes time to talk to the right people and to get meetings set up for evaluation and enrollment.

Yes, I am a PAer. I'm from Erie County, and I am a TSS, and also so stubbornly refusing to admit that my daughter may need one besides me. LOL.

Been in your shoes. I did a lot my self but it REALLY helps to have an objective good person helping out. You still need to be mom too, plus it is REALLY hard to be objective with our kids. It helps to have an outside professional oppinion.

Fortunately in your (and my) situation, we have access to lots of good knowledgable people who can give us lots of good sound advice and we know where to go to get the supports and services.

On the one hand it helps immensley to already know the language but on the other hand I found I was particularly blind when it came to my own kids which was a detriment.
