What would you do?

Always I come here to ask these questions. I am stumped.

As I mentioned, Mike is in a play and doing well. He wants to be a Altar Server at church and we have considered it and looked into it.

Here is the problem. Turns out the person who trains the kids is an 8th grader in a family that is just so "perfect" they annoy the heck out of me. I hear through the grapevine they are very understanding and accepting so I should divulge Mike's challenges.

Mike's behavior has not been stellar lately. When he gets involved in outside things his autistic stuff goes way up and his behaviors tank. I think it is due to the play, DH says it is too much video games (his typical excuse). Whatever the reason he is not in a place where I am comfortable letting him try this without informing those involved but I am not sure I am comfortable with divulging to an 8th grader who is supposed to do the training and be in charge of the altar servers.

I've got to email this kid back and let her know if we are going to show up for her to train Mike on one of the set dates. He can get trained now and start serving in June. Another option is trying again in the fall when the next schedule starts.

WWYD.

Honestly as a mom as a Teenaged aspie(he is offically 13) Who has a tendency to overload himself and we pay dearly for the price. I would put off the Altar boy stuff till after the pressure of being in the play is over. By June Mike will be out of school and many of the stressors in his life might be lessened.

I put off having Josh[s bar miztvah till this coming May. If I had his bar Miztvah the way its is meant to be. Wre would have had it in Jan. where we would have just come off of Xmas break. Then went into ELA state testing. The overwhelming experience of his birthday and anything else that came our way.

I did his miztvah project earlier than what would be expected so the total focus would be on studying for his bar miztvah He volunteered in a nursing home(my facility) unfortunaley it only worked out for a couple of months because Josh just did not quite get it and the recreation department didn't quite get him. The residents thought Josh was a delight. But that is another story.

But in order to do this Josh has been studying his hebrew and actually doing quite well for himself. He sort of has to help lead the service in Hebrew and English. And he has been rising to the occasion And in the middle of all this he has to read a portion of the Torah in hebrew and then his Haftorah. Then he has to give a speech on what the whole thing means to him. The reading for Josh is coming along but how do you explain his part and what it means plus having him give a speech. Pressure there. Plus we are planning a party. And Josh very much wants it.

He has been doing good with tis whiole thing. but at any point i expect a blow out probably when its all over and we have let down.
