What Would You Tell Them?

Since this board serves as a source of support for so many of us, it stands to reason that it typically focuses on the challenges we face every day. So I thought that posing this hypothetical situation might give us all a reason to smile, even if only for a moment or two.
If a reporter were to ask you, "What is the BEST thing about your child with an Autism Spectrum Disorder?" How would you answer?

His overall sweetness, innocence, and just plain goodness that comes from his heart :).

This one came up tonight with the Caitster.
1. Tenacity. When they get interested in something they just stick with it and are so tenacious it is incredible. Tonight it was the clarinet practicing. Cait just really likes music and MAN can she squeak, but she keeps at it and at it until she gets it right. Mike is tenacious too when he wants to do something it has to be right. I have seen that kid sit for 2 hours doing homework that is hard for him but he DOES NOT want to leave it undone. Take the map project tonight. As mad as he was and as much as he would cry he still insisted on doing it as it was written.
2. The are just good hearted critters- when you get past the social deficits and tendancy to meltdown, etc, and you get to know the real kid they have the best hearts. Some of the kindest, most well meaning folk ever. You can't help but just adore them.
3. Humor - Common gals, living with an ASD kid has some SERIOUSLY funny moments! If you can't think of any, I will share my "short shower" story, or the one when shopping with Mike in Costco while on the phone with district rep.
There are so many more but I guess I should have stuck to one.

How about a list for ya:
He's a great alarm clock.

lol @ number 3. Yes they have tons of humor. The "Yes mom, I'm fine, no need for the reinforcements" thing Chris said in the mall bathroom. lol
That still cracks me up teeeheeee

The best thing about my child with ASD is his kindness. He is the most kind, loving, sweet, child I know.

Guess I should answer my own question, huh?!?!?
I love the fact that every small accomplishment is huge! For example, the only food with even a tad of protein that Claire will eat is chicken nuggets, and she's picky about which brands. Even with that, we have to cut them up because she won't bite into due to oral sensory issues. Well Sunday night, we went through McDonald's on our way home from an out of town trip and she actually ate all four of those nuggets without having them cut up! All of us were ecstatic and telling her how proud we were of her.
My spectrum kiddos are incredibly loving and kind. They simply don't know how to be mean.
And like Renee said, we are rarely, if ever, without a laugh. While Noah is funny, Claire is hysterical!

Easy... his imagination.
Dominic has such an imagination, that even if you don't like the world he's created (in our house it is the world of Mond, something like Pokemon, but his own characters and skills), he can still suck you right into it. It's like you can see, feel and hear his characters.
and, of course, the quirky things they all say/do! provides for much humor!

The BEST things about Hayden:
He loves Mommy like no other.
He does not have the ability to lie. Wether its telling the cashier at Walmart that she has a big belly, or telling who squeezed the juice box all over the floor, he can't lie.
He is always quiet in the car.
He has the most beautiful eyes and skin coloring of all my children.
He makes my heart feel a certian undescribable way, like no one else can.
He always has very sweet breath.

My DD is something special and I adore her spirit the most.
