will the sleep issues ever end?????

JAcob (2.5) has not slept a night in his room since January. He started climbing out of his crib, coming into our room at night. It was a major battle to get him back in the crib and since I had to be at work I gave up the fight and let him sleep in our room (on the floor.) We then got him a big boy bed---a race car one. Well, he manages to sleep in his room until about 1:00 each night, then comes in our room and sleeps on the floor. I know that I am supposed to walk him back to his room, but getting him back to sleep takes about 30 minutes and frankly I am too tired and like I said I have to work in the morning.
DO I just let this go on until I am off for summer break? Any suggestions on what I should do. It's not a major deal b/c he doesn't even care if he is in our bed. I think he just wants to be near us. He has a night light and sleeps with his stuffed dog. Any thoughts or ideas?
Thanks.
Sonya

p.s. I know this it totally my fault. I never let DD sleep in our room and she is the best sleeper ever!

Sonya,

It's not about blame or fault. You have a situation and you need to know how to deal with it.

I think the first question you need to ask yourself is this:

Do I want to

Hi there,

I have run the gammet of sleep issues and continue to with both boys. One thing that I have found that helped is put one of the door knob things on the door to keep him in. Then when I hear him get up, I go to him and it seems to cut way down on the time to return back to sleep vs. the waking up more and getting use to coming into my bedroom.

I don't know where you son is developmentally. For one son, a reward system helped if he stayed in bed all night. My other son wouldn't understand that at all.

Hang in there. Everyone does the best they can at any given time and no one is in your shoes but you. So do what you think is best at the right time.
