Would this be considered Stimming?

I have been thinking about my father alot, trying to remember things he did when he was alive. I really do think this gene thing comes from my side of the family as I remember my sisters would sometimes tic ect....
One thing I was curious about is, he would write things out in the air all the time. Wether it be a math problem (he was a genius when it came to mathmatics) or writing words. I always thought it was such an odd thing to do, but forgot about it until now.
He was also pretty quirky, not very social. He also had some developmental problems and I was told he didn't walk until the age of 2 possibly 3. My mom says 3, but she could be exxagerating a bit.

I don't know enough to know whether it's stimming, but I find the part about writing things in the air very interesting. Dh does it when doing math computations in his head, which he's quite good at. I never thought about it being an AS thing, just one of his "quirks," but I guess they're really one and the same. I never understood how writing things in the air could help you do your computations -- there's no way that would ever work for me!!!
I often spell by writing in the air.
No, he just did it. I remember he would be sitting in the living room, sitting in his chair, maybe listening to some music, maybe not and just doing it.
He also used to talk to himself. I do that alot and I always thought I got it from my dad by watching him? I drive tony nuts doing it lol
