I personally do not enjoy movies at the cinema very much. I don't remember it being a problem when I was younger, but nowadays I get absolutely frazzled by all the visual images flashing by so fast (especially in previews), and above all, the noise is pretty overpowering. They usually have the sound up so loud that you're temporarily kind of deaf when you leave. But hey, at least they don't allow smoking in theaters anymore, like they did in the old days. (Or am I wrong? *Do* they allow smoking in theaters in some states, still?)
Maybe I'm just more sentitive that the average kid. I haven't even considered taking Nathan, since he can't even tolerate the noise of being in a small room of preschool kids. I did take David to "Finding Nemo" when he was 5, and he *hated* the whole experience. We left after about ten minutes.

I think it really depends on your kids.
