When it rains it pours here.
First I went and visited the program Cait will go to for highschool and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I am still a bit nervous but I think it will be ok.
Then Cait and I went back tonight for her orientation. After talking to the special ed teacher AND going we have decided to sign cait up for Marching Band which we did tonight. It will count as her PE requirement and she will have a "group" to belong to. I met some of the older band members and they were really nice kids. Cait saw one of her friends signed up as well and is so happy. The more she learns about it the more excited adn thrilled she is. She will also be able to take 2 study skills classes with the Sped teacher because Marching Band counts as PE. That will definitely help.
THEN her history/language arts teacher said Cait had been trying so hard this year and getting her homework done even though she had excessive absence due to her seizures that she was going to recommend her for honors english and history! HELLO! CAIT! WHO! I am proud of my girl. She has worked really hard this year but none of her past teachers would have EVER recomended that!
FINALLY! BIG FINALE! Mike not only got a part in the play he tried out for but he got a MAIN part! He is this goof-ball hero in a silly western who says repetitive lines (did the peg my boy or what). He has to sing a solo as well. OMG! Lets see if he can actaully manage this. I REALLY hope he can pull it off. It will be so huge for his self esteem if he can.
Thats it from the funny farm for today.

Wow !!!
Oh, how exciting! That's a whole lot of awesome news.
Man, I wish marching band had counted as PE in my high school! I can't think of anything worse than high school PE.
Congrats to Cait and Mike! what a great week for them (and mom). Marching Band counting for PE is genius! and congrats on the honors LA and History! that's great and w/ the extra study skills classes I'll bet she can manage!

that's excellent news all round. And I'm so glad Cait is going to get to join the band, because I remember how many opportunities opened up for me by participating in group music - social, cultural, physical etc - and I think it might be really great for her.
It's worth remembering the successes - particularly when we have hard times and failures - because it reminds us of why it is worth trying for things that we might not attain.
WTG everyone!
