WTF!

I go to pick up the kids from school today and the teacher is gesturing that she needs to talk to me without little ears around.

The aide is coming back as of tomorrow. She was told to tell me that the aide "would be very closely monitored" WTF!!!!! She didn't know/couldn't tell me any more than that.

I made some calls, left alot of messages, called the teacher again. I told her I was feeling very uneasy about this. She told me that I was very wise to be concerned and should call the director. She also assured me that Mike's safety was her top priority (ok I am getting all kinds of hints at this point right?). But she was also told they had no choice, if Kelly wanted to return to work tomorrow there wasn't anything they could do about it. I told her I understood her hands were tied but mine are not.

BTW, this totally smells of teachers union. Good for somethings and not for others. I do know that is nearly impossible to fire someone who is in the union.

I called the district office and finally got the director's secretary directly. I explained that I needed to talk to the director TODAY and my concerns. I was told by this secretary (who basically runs the Sped dept and has for years) that she was also very shocked about this return and had the same concerns as I do. That she would be sure either the elementary director, the district director or my program specialist would return my call before school tomorrow. WTF!

So here I sit hoping SOMEONE returns my call today. Best case scenario as i can see is that she shows up and is fired again and Mike goes through more transitions and knowing my boy and transitions that is a FRIGGEN scary best case scenario. I DOUBT she is going to make it through the end of the year.

Oh what fun.

Ok, seriously, how do they justify doing this to a child with autism?

I have class tonight. In fact, thank god for wireless laptops. I am here early for homework and thought I would check in. Ok, having a hard time concentrating on homework.

I don't know where I left off but I have made a million more calls. I haven't gotten in touch with anyone who can give me answers but I have been given lots of hints by those under them that this is a safety issue.

The principal tried to call me back but my phone didn't ring. I must have been in a bad spot. She is going to try and call back tonight (likely when I am in class, ugh) or I can talk to her tomorrow.

Grrr.

Off to homework .

you never did find out why they let her go to begin with right? The whole sounds very fishy!

Yeah, WTF? If she shows up, I'd be asking her directly to her face for an explanation if the admins can't say anything to you directly. That would make me highly uncomfortable. A bizarre incident that morning turned into an even bigger bizarre mess that you have to try and mop up after...and you've got no mop!

I am mopping the mess with a friggin tissue. Oh the birthday just gets better.

I did get a call from the elementary director. You see they can't fire her without documentation (6weeks worth according to my prof). She has to have the same job for this time period because if they gave her another position she could argue the district set her up for failure.

"They" say they are taking all precautions for Mike's safety. "They" say that the aide will check in with the principal every morning who will determine if she is fit to work that day. The good part is that there is always a certified teacher around when she is working with him, either his SDC teacher or the general ed teacher and she will be monitored closely. I am only allowing this because I have trusted this woman with my boy for 3 years and until recently I had no reason to question her ability. But I am bugged big time by this situation.

So if she shows tomorrow I don't have a leg to stand on other than saying that consistency is an issue and Mike needing consistency. My guess is she will pull her crap together long enough to make it through the year or she will just quit. Either way not the best of situations. I haven't even told him yet because I am waiting to see if she actually shows up.

Oh, and my day ended thus....(Respite issues). I come home to hear that my boys or one of my boys were out front in the drive way with the garage open when DH came home. THIS IS COMPLETELY OFF LIMITS AT OUR HOUSE WITHOUT AN ADULT OUTSIDE WITH THEM. The Respite dude was sitting on the chair doing nothing. I don't think he actually is watching them and taking good care of them. It has gotten where I am not comfortable leaving the house for my class anymore.

UGH! GRRRR! I think I may just ditch respite all together and see if my mom will do it. I hate to ask but I may have too. I can't have them not safe. This is why I haven't worked for 7 years.

Happy friggen birthday to me.

Got a call into the lads. I have told them there is lots of guiness in house. Hopefully I hear from them soon
