Yikes, the big guns are coming. The school called today to say that after the student support team (SST)

If placement change is an option the bigwigs need to be there to be able to approve putting him in a placement. They are the ones that have the information as to what is available as well as final say from the district stand point on what they can offer. If they weren't there you would likely have to have another meeting with them before a change could be made.

They also often attend meetings where the kid is in crisis. That is part of thier job and I would be concerned if they weren't going and hadn't taken an interest.

I almost always have our schools district program specialist (Leslie) at our meetings. I love her and have her phone number memorized. She is my goto person if I need someone. I often have the director of the elementary programs at mine when we are in crisis as well. Donna knows me quite well. LOL. Sometimes it is scary and sometimes they are political but usually I have good relations with them. I look at it like a business relationship.

By there being there I would take that to mean they are taking you seriously. I don't know what those folks are like but go in with a positive attitude. If they start to make you really uncomfortable you can always call an end to the meeting or refuse to sign until you have a chance to think about it. Not all district folks are nice, they just don't bug me because they don't scare me anymore.
