--------------------------------------Panel Discussion on "Ways you can help your child: Intervention strategies for high-functioning autism" Wednesday, January 30th from 7:00 to 9:00pm at the Georgetown University Medical Center New Research Building Auditorium.
Dr. Lauren Kenworthy, Director, Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders and Laura Anthony, PhD, CASD interventionist will discuss solutions to common problems facing youth with Asperger Syndrome or High-functioning Autism and their families. The presenters will discuss proven strategies that parents, teachers and other professionals can easily implement at home and school. Topics will include strategies to address motivation, anxiety, sadness, social and conversation skills, organization, flexibility, working memory, and problem-solving skills. A panel of CASD clinicians will also be available to answer questions following the conclusion of the presentation. In addition, a tour of the Georgetown functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) center, where many CASD research studies occur, will be offered. Free garage parking for 80 people.
