DD just diagnosed yesterday...
Thu, 11-17-2005 - 2:42pm

My 3 1/2 year-old beautiful sweet daughter was just diangosed with PDD-NOS yesterday and I am devestated. I always knew something was wrong, but could never quite put my finger on it and now I know. I am still struggling to take this all in and I am so glad to have found this board. I think I am going to need some support through all of this.

My name is Kyra. I'm 29 and a SAHM. I've been married to my DH Greg for six years. Together, we have three wonderful children: DD Kayleigh (2/5/02), DS Alekzander (10/26/03), and DS Logan (7/31/05) and we live in rural and mountainous NW PA.

My daughter Kayleigh was born 2 months early and has been in the EI program since birth. She attends the EI preschool here in my town and her diagnosis just came yesterday. I am looking forward to becoming a member of your board.

((((hugs)))) to all.

For more about my daughter and family, feel free to visit my blog Under the Pink, listed in my signature.

Welcome Kyra :)

What gorgeous kids you have.

The diagnosis is a real kick in the teeth, what? I have been on this path a long time -My sone now 7.5 and was diagnosed over two years ago, but we *knew* for a couple of years before that. He is a rarity -an extroverted autistic, which made him difficult to diagnose.

For us it got easier. Not just less difficult, but easier as he got older, made progress and we found the right treatments for him. I have learned to appreciate a lot of his insights, honesty and gifts. So have many other people. He is just an awesome dude.

Hi Kyra,

I'm Cathy, and my DS, Jack, is 4+ and PDD-NOS as well.

I read your blog description.... and I just wanted to empathize.

Hi there Kyra,

Welcome. It isn't that bad once you get accustomed to the life with these guys.

My oldest child, Cait, was diagnosed PDD-NOS at 4 and Aspergers at 7, she is now 11. My 2nd Child Mike is 9 and was diagnosed AS at 7 and a bunch of stuff before that starting at 3, I also have 2 younger children. One is completely typical and the other is ADHD.

I have an interesting wild house. I have cried my fair share of tears and more. Not all were tears of sadness either. There is nothing quite like you child making a typical childhood milestone when they have had a diagnosis.

The best thing is the incredible, strong group of moms you are joining. They are pretty darn awesome. Welcome to the club no one wanted to join.

Hello Kyra,

My name is Jennifer, mom to Sebastian (10.2.03) and Sylvia (12.26.01), who was just diagnosed PDD-NOS last week. I read the most recent post on your blog and started crying, because I could relate to it so well. Like you, even though we were expecting the diagnosis, it's not easy to come to terms with.

Anyway, I think you'll find lots of help, support and comfort from this board. The people here are wonderful, and it's nice to be able to talk to people who've been there.

Hope to "see" more of you,

P.S. I checked out your book wish list on your blog... IMHO, I think you should move "Never Let Me Go" by Kazuo Ishiguro up to the top. It's phenomenal.

Hi Kyra and welcome! I'm new to this board as well (my intro post is right before yours). Look forward to getting to know you better.

P.S. your children are adorable!
