Maybe we could request a seperate folder for the diet stuff? Call it Diet Riot or take any other suggestions.???

Anyhow, When I opened my book tonight, the first thing that I saw was the handout on Water and what you need to know about drinking it.

Water is quite possibly the most important thing in losing weight and keeping it off. Here are a few reasons:

Water suppresses the appetite naturally and helps the body metabolize stored fat. Studies have shown that a decrease in water intake will cause fat deposits to increase, while and increase in water intake can actually reduce fat deposits. here's why: The kidneys can't function properly without enough water. When they don't work to capacity, some of their load is dumped onto the liver. one of the livers primary functions is to matabolize stored fat into usable energy for the body. But if the liver has to do some of

This is great stuff! I've always wondered exactly why water drinking can have such a positive effect on my weekly weigh-in! Now I know.

Speaking of such, this week has been very frustrating. I've been getting an average of 10 to 12 glasses of water a day, and I've stuck to my diet plan (weight watchers, 25 points a day). (Well, I'm over, but not by much, on most days). And, I've really started exercising. I ride my bike for around an hour. Then I've been doing sit ups (up to 200 a day). But my weight loss is still stalled! I officially weigh in on Saturday mornings, but I peeked this AM. I'm down like ½ a pound! I expected more. I mean, I'm so sore!

Sio,

I know you are a little dissapointed this week, but don't give up! Keep it up. So much depends on outside factors, like your cycle. Keep with the routine and the results will build over time.

I went to the gym yesterday (instead of walking right by like I usually do). I only did 20 minutes in the cross-trainer, but

Becky thank you so much for the information. I have wondered why water was so important too. I appreciate you!

Did anyone do anything healthy that they want to share this weekend? I went to McDonald's after church (Liam's turn to pick the restaurant). I got a Cobb salad with no bacon. Next time I think I'll also ask them to hold the chicken just because I don't like it. Also, I didn't use dressing, so I don't think it was too bad.

I got a lot of incidental exercise. I kept getting phone calls "are you going to be home? We're going for a drive and thought we'd stop by..." So I did a LOT of house work! Unfortunately, I also drank a bit more wine then usual! DH and I did a great deal of yard work, too.

Well I have been doing the water thing and even doing the extra water for the extra weight. I must be getting enough since my urine is nearly clear (that is why the blushing emotion is on). Sorry that too much info.

Becky or anyone who knows this answer. I was wondering what is the reasoning for drinking the quart within a 30 minute time limit also any reason for the last bit being between 5 and 6? I was just wondering about that. A lot of time I am in session between 5 and 6 and don't really want to guzzle water then.

I'm not sure on the reasoning of this but I think it's to curve the appetite. and the 5 -6 suggestion may be to curve your dinner appetite and avoid having to get up many times during the night to empty your bladder. I hate the taste of water.. Always have. I drink Tea and lots of it. I try to make myself drink but it's really hard to. I am so swollen from water retention. I even considered diuretics just to see if even the "temporary" sollution would fix me for a day...lol But I couldn't find any to buy today. (Are they outlawed?)

AS far as the 5 -6 thing. If you usally eat supper at

Becky thanks for you response. I was wondering if it was about the suppression of appetite also.

I go back and forth on liking water. At times it's like I gag on a glass of water. I have not gagged for a while. I got my water intake for today also!

I am eager to hear about the carbohydrates you were talking about.

Thanks,

Linda
