Hello, my son Alp is 6 years old now. We were happy when he started to read at 2,5 . But there was something different with him and when he started to go to school he faced real problems. He has been diagnosed PDD NOS when he was 4. He is going to school and after school he is going to a social therapy center for the children with PDD. He is getting better and better everyday, but here in our country we cant find enough people to share our experiences and people dont like to talk about the problems, so we decided to join this forum.

Welcome to the board!

I hope you are able to find the support you need here. We're just a bunch of moms, but we know what it is like to be raising a child on the spectrum. Feel free to ask any questions, vent, share, and just generally be yourself here. We understand!

It sounds like you have a good situation for your son. Many people here struggle with getting services for their children here in the States because so much depends on whether and what type of insurance you have. Although the schools here have to provide some services, it's pretty minimal and usually not enough to make a real difference.

I'm lucky because my husbands insurance covers a lot and we live in a major urban area, so we are able to provide good services to our children. Others are not so lucky, or they live in an area of the country where services are hard to find. It's not fair, but it's the situation that exists here.

I hope to get to know you better as time goes on. The great thing about the board is that it's always here when you need it, and before long, someone will respond to your post with a comment, some insight, or some advice.

Thank you for your kind reply. I see that this board is really usefull, i read the posts and get alot of info and see people sharing their experiences. I am a medical doctor and i know that every case every patient is unique and individual but experiences always help to the parents. So this board is making a great job. Our main problem is our english :) my wife cant speak english well, as you can see my english isnt perfect either. But that wont stop me i will try to share our experiences with you all and let you know about the progress of our son Alp. I am really glad to meet you. Thank you again and hope we can help eachother.

Hello and welcome to the board. It's great to have you here. This board has been very helpful to me since my son was dx'd with autism. My little one is 5 years old. He just started school, but is struggling a lot. We are working on a solution at he moment.

Can't wait to hear about all the great things your son is doing.
