Remember talking about my daughter going to preschool soon?
If not, that's okay, one can only remember so much right? She'll be 3 soon, she has had seizures when she was sick and one when she was overly shy (it lasted 40 mins, unconscious, foaming, twitching), she wears orthotics, has mild hypotonia, and expressive speech difficulties. I was worried about her going to preschool, since it is 3 hours a day, and she is overly shy to the point of shutting down.
I took your advice to look into any other preschools there are around here.
I met another parent who lives in our school district. He said they bus his son to the next school district, to a class of 5. I was like FIIIVE? lol His son is hard at hearing, so the preschool is made up of those who cannot hear, and those who have difficulty hearing. They use sign language AND talk the entire day. My daughter primarily speaks through ASL. She "talks", but it's not incoherent.
Now those are the two things I was worried about- smaller class size (because of her shutting down), and sign language (she wouldn't be able to express her needs).
Now whether or not they would allow her into that class is another story since she isn't hard at hearing (we think anyways, hearing test to come soon). I don't even know if it would be a good fit. It is just so nice to know that maybe there are other preschools that could fit her needs.
Thanks for the advice.
I'll definitely keep looking. :D:D:D
