Hi I just found this board my ds David is 6 and I think he may have apergers. I will try to make this short as I wrote a novel on the pp autistic board.

Here is a little about my ds. He was dxed with sensory problems at 3 but due to an insurance change we couldn't find anyone in network to help. Also ped was no help as she looked at a whole 10 min said don't worry he will out grow it he is just like my kids.

So we went to a psychiatrist and was dxed with adhd after being seen for 20 min and prescribed 2 different meds that ended up making him worse. We stopped going to the psychiatrist after getting no real help from him.

We even tried the Chiropractic Neroligest route and did the diet change it worked great at first but when he went back to school his attitude came back.

We moved and we have a different ped who just put him back on adhd meds again. They worked great at first but not now. Here is why I think he has aspergers. He has poor eye contact with me and does the same thing to his teachers. He has trouble making friends in all his years in school this is the very first year that he has mentioned having a friend at school. Our cat has been missing for 2 weeks and he doesn't even seem to miss her.He is very explosive and becomes angry very easy. He doesn't have much of an imagination he mostly just likes to take apart his toys. Or he will line up his army men on his aircraft carrier and knock them down and put them on again. Anything close to imaginative play is saying things he has seen on TV or

Our ped has recommended us to a new therapy place in town that diagnoses the different autistic spectrum disorders. They also help with sensory problems as as adhd and other disorders. I called and they called our insurance so I know what I will need to pay and what little they will pay. Oh well this will benefit my ds in more ways then I can think of.His first appt. is on Monday they are a new place that my ped says they have been doing this for while and they are good at what they do. I just can't believe they are only 5 min away from my house what luck. Our last therapist was one hours drive away before we moved here.I will update next week after

I think you are very right to be concerned about an autism spectrum diagnosis.
