Hey guys,

My son's history is a bit long... but I will try my best to make it short and to the point...

Brian falls within the AD/HFA - PDD/NOS Spectrum...

Hi Mary Ann and welcome,

I am Paula and I also live in New York (Long Island). I am not sure what you feel you need at this point in time. You have said he is doing OK in HS so far. I know it is very early in the school year -my kids have not yet had a full week of school, but what do you expect to happen? Does he typically start the year off well and then start to deteriorate?

I am no expert on education plans ans what is right and wrong under the law. You sound like you know a lot more than I do! You may want to post education-related questions on the Special Education plans board. Those ladies can run rings around me on education law. Here is a link to the board.

Please feel free to stick around and post, question, vent and cry as much as you need to.

Welcome MaryAnne

I live in PA and I just have a small child on the spectrum so school isn't my thing to ask advice for..

I still wanted to extend my plate of cyber cookies and offer a shoulder to lean on. Hope you stick aroun. This bunch of gals have been my rock.

Nice to meet you

Thanks for the welcome and the link Paula, I appreciate it.

I'm orginally from the Bronx... upper Westchester for 22 yrs ewwwwww bunch of snobs here - I do miss the Bronx - well the way it was when I was growing up! oh and because my son is noted for behavioral problems.... it's even worse..... Not only does the school look down at us as horrible parents so do most of the others who have seen Brian when he's having a meltdown... or very upset...

Brian needs Section 504 so that he can get the accomodations.... the part in my first post in black is what I would like!

District will not give him 504 - they state he has no sever limitation to major life function... and IDEA.... because he's High Functioning - state he doesn't require special education....

I would like for Brian to finally get the services he needs - going crazy trying to get them!

Brian usually starts off the year fine..... and he's fine until someone starts antagonizing him...
