Hello,
Sio told me about this board...(thanks Sio, I found it...eventually lol)

My son is 11 and was diagnosed ADHD at 7. There has always been something missing in his diagnosis, behaviors and manorisms not common to ADHD. Thanks to another mother I recently took another (much deeper) look into Aspergers and am convinced it is the missing link I have been searching for since he was in pre-school. He has already come a long way thanks to some diet changes and suppliment interventions over the past year, along with a weekly pragmatic language / social skills group at school. I am now seeking a mild Aspergers diagnosis along with the ADHD.

Just wanted to introduce us :)

Hey Charlotte, Welcome aboard. I haven't been spending too much time here lately as I'm over there with you most the time now ;) I hope you like it here. The women on this board are full of information and are very supportive.

Welcome to the board, Charlotte!

I'm Carrie, mom to Hollyann(7yo) and Tristan(8yo). He's my reason for being here - he's ADHD, AS (well, most likely - original dx of PDD-NOS is 3 years old - in any case, he is definitely HFA), BiPolar, motor-tick disorder, and has a hearing loss on his left side. He's in 3rd grade, mainstreamed, and doing rather well academically. We currently live in CT due to hubby being in the Navy.

I look forward to getting to know you better, and hopefully being able to help you out when I can.

Hi Charlotte!

Welcome to the board! I'm Michelle, I have a 6yr old, Nathan, who is High functioning autistic with anxiety and sensory issues, as well. I'm glad that you were able to find the "missing link" for your ds! My little guy is in Kindergarten and has speech therapy.....I'm hoping to get him into some kind of social skills group too! But I have to wait til next year...they don't offer it for kindies! Otherwise, he seems to be doing fine in a mainstream class. I also have an 8yr old, Tyler, who is NT and in the 2nd grade.

Hope to hear more from you!

Thanks Carrie,
I am having a hard time waiting to hear from the Psychiatrist on all of this. I am not got at waiting, lol! I just sat down and read the neuropsych eval again in full from 4 years ago and I am baffled how this was not picked up before now!!

I will feel much better with the official diagnosis so that I can proceed with the school system.

Hi Michelle,

My son has anxiety and sensory issues as well. He has come SO far this year with the help of the speech therapy, and the nutritional interventions. He is doing WAY better with the anxiety after 8 months on the fish oil than he did with the same length of time on anti-depressants!

Thanks for the welcome.

Welcome to the board Charlotte! My ds is also 11(AS/ADHD) dx ADHD when he was 6 and I always knew that there was more to it...had him eval by a private phychologist and dx w/AS/ADHD when he was 10. He is doing much better now that he is in a special program at school for ASD children.

It's so nice to hear other people say all of this. I really felt stupid for not having this "missing piece" diagnosed before now!!
