Hi everyone! I'm Jeni, and my oldest daughter, Grace, was diagnosed with Aspergers today. It was not unexpected, she and my husband are like peas in a pod and he figured out he was an undiagnosed aspie several years ago. Today with the diagnosis I am feeling relief and validation more than any other emotion.

Grace is 9, and has previous had diagnoses of SPD, Sensory Modulation Dysfunction, CAPD, and dyspraxia. Even with her relative social savvy for a 9 yr old girl, and her wide vocabulary, her quirks alongside her diagnoses made me curious about the possibility of her being on the spectrum. She has been in public school for a few months after being homeschooled since preschool. They have still not done any educational testing, and I am curious about her other learning disabilities. Probably more processing issues, definitely expressive language issues. Needs a little help so she can succeed rather than "do fine" at school.

She is a sweet girl with a big heart, and loves her little sisters and brother. She loves to draw, she loves outer space, she loves polar bears, fruits and veggies, and wants to be a "pet adoption specialist" when she grows up. She is involved in a drama class, in tae kwon do, and in YMCA Indian Princesses.

My husband and I have 3 other children who are 6, 3, and 18 months, two girls and then a boy. The boy is up, so I have to close with that! Thanks to manec93 for inviting me here!!

Welcome to the board, you'll hopefully find a lot of support here.
