I have four boys ages: 8 1/2, 7, 4 1/2, and 2. My third son got a PDD-NOS diagnosis almost two years ago. It has been very difficult as he seems to run the house and his mood would dictate what the rest of the family would do. In April I took him to a ped psychiatrist who diagnosed him as having anxiety (guessed that one) and OCD tendencies. He was put on Zoloft and Risperdal which has changed all our lives. He can actually focus on things and sit in a chair for longer than 30 seconds. Most people now have no idea that he is/was ever on the spectrum.
His teacher chased me down the hall a week after we started his new meds and demanded to know what we were doing differently at home because "He is just like any other child in the class now!"
I am wondering if anyone else has a child on these meds and how they are doing. We have noticed some downs (few) and many, many ups since he started. The good how definietly outweighed the bad.
If anyone has any long-term insight I would love to hear.
Our fourth son also has a genetic condition but we don't think that the two are related in their delays although we are having more tests run to be certain.
