I think my mom's still recovering from the stress of all those years knowing something was wrong, but not WHAT. (Along with heaps of misguided and unsolicited advice from others.)


As an aside, I should mention that there was no negative impact on me as a younger sibling.

Gwen,

Thanks so much for posting. I know a lot of us parents fear for their children's future. It is always nice to hear success stories.

I really feel for your mother dealing with an AS kid back then when nobody had a clue what it was. It is hard enough to deal with schools and the world now. I can't even imagine 30 some years ago! It sounds to me like your brother has done well largely because of great family support. It is great that you come here and advocate for him - and through that for us.

Please stick around. I think some of the moms may have some questions or comments.

Malachi is really cute BTW (and spelled the Gaelic way. Good for you ;) ).
