Hello! Thought I'd introduce myself:)
I have four children and my youngest Charlie, who is 10 this week has ASD. He is reasonably high functioning for his autism diagnosis but not quite bright enough for Aspergers! He has some learning difficulties and also poor muscle tone (I used to hang on the hypotonia board when he was little) but also some amazing skills.
He is actually a very sociable child..he likes people (prefers adults), but has very poor understanding of social functioning. He has obsessions and will monologue complete strangers on them ..Andrew LLoyd Webber musicals are his biggest obsession, and he can sing several from one end to the other, yet can't dress himself yet, cant ride a bike, can;t draw... he's a sweet and unusal little fellow. he is also quite anxious and has odd fears. Currently having trouble getting his outside as he is petrified of anything with wings:(
My other three are teens (15, 14 and 13..yeah fun !) who are very tolerant with Charlie *most* of the time:)
I work in special school (Oxfordshire UK) and I work with children at the most severe end of the spectrum, with severe learning difficulties, austim and very challenging behaviour. Hard work but I love it.
Anyway Hi!! Look forward to meeting people:)
