Teen AS daughter and learning to drive

Has any of you taught your teen asperger child to drive yet? I just started with my 16 year old daughter. OMG is about all I can say. I talked her into getting a permit by telling her we would take our time teaching her and stick to the back roads and residential streets for a while. Its been 3 months of driving the same 4 roads in our neighborhood. I feel like its time to venture out to busier roads. She is balking. She has the skill but lacks the self confidence.
Got any ideas?
Anyone BTDT?
My 17yo AS dd hasn't even gotten her permit.
Yes they do. My neighbor owns the only driving school in my town. He has recruited many of our neigbors as instructors. I see the way they drive and its scary. Talking on their cell phones while they roll through stop signs. So with my first 2 kids I taught them to drive then put them in the mandatory school. The instructors saw that my kids already knew how to drive and didnt have to offer any feedback. If there was a really good school nearby or a school for special needs folks then I would try that out. But basically I am on my own with this.
