More on the "Winter Blues"

Funny we call it (seasonal affective disorder) winter "blues" when the reason it happens may be a lack of BLUE light!

The cockatoo is doing better this winter - not doing much feather destruction. He can still fly. We set up another cage in the basement in front of a big TV with a DVD player and he watches bird videos (PollyVision I and II) for about 4 hours per day. It really breaks up his day, and it takes the place of the time that he'd normally be out on the deck during warm months. The other variable is he is getting double the monthly dose of hormone shot that he got last winter.
