My oldest is diagnosed ADHD, inattentive and ODD, but was never as bad off as the child of the author of the following Huffington Post article.  I can only imagine how awful it feels to be at such a dark place when it comes to parenting your child:

In our darkest moments we thought, We can no longer handle him. We didn’t know how much longer we could have Alex continue to live with us, but he's our baby. Our first baby.

As frustrating as it was to deal with someone who was constantly kicking at you, and spitting at you and pulling your hair, I remember one day when he was sobbing in the midst of his tantrum and he said, "I am just never going to be happy, ever again." It was so heartbreaking.

They completed a very intense 12 week session of parent-child interaction therapy, and her son did make a lot of progress.  I'm glad that they did eventually find the help that her son needed.

Have you heard of or have any experience with ODD or this type of therapy?
