So my son has Geumophobia (fear of taste)

According to my DS's therapist he is not just a picky eater - he does have an actual phobia of food. So last night I asked about the fear -- after years of struggle you forget your kid can communicate better -- and he was able to break it down as a fear of taste.

On the way home I asked how he felt about his therapist and he said he was excited, it gave him something to look forward too. Now I just assumed it was for the play therapy section of it. But then when we got home he said, 'then maybe mom when I go back to swim I can get past level one & maybe I can start to eat too.'

Arrrrgh, just about broke my heart. This kid wants nothing more than to be a good kid. He knows how much his eating puts a toll on our family & he really doesn't like it.

Oh my goodness, this must be such a relief. Even just putting a correct name on it and then knowing there is a path to explore ...

As for payment... ummmm.... Sorry.... My husband & I essentially go nowhere. We buy next to nothing.... everything has been poured into getting our children well. And it worked. I laugh (but seriously) if money can "cure" "mental illness," then that is what ours did. Oh well. What is so sad for many families is that one parent ends up not being able to work because of the child.... welll... that is even less income. But wait. There is worse. What if that one parent is a single parent?

Our insurance would not pay for the therapy our daughter was in for 9 years. Weekly. Shall we add up what that one expense alone was....????

I did just get a 2nd job yesterday .. hopefully between the two I might be able to get a little extra money together. So now I have 2 part time jobs, working from home, while being a full-time mom to a half day kindergartener & a 3rd grader. So 3 times a day I'm walking to & from school, not counting the days I volunteer (which is 2 days a week).
