craniosacral and chiropractor

I just wanted to share what a great experience its been for us going to a chiropractor for craniosacral therapy and adjustments. We've been going twice a month for about 6 months. Developmentally I don't know that its done a lot. And I am not a big fan of alternative treatments by nature, probably just lack of knowledge, but its obvious that Krisitn feels better after her sessions. Today she had a special session with 2 of them working on her together for an hour and the difference was amazing. Its a little frustrating because insurance doesn't cover this of course but I wish we could go more often. Anyway, its a topic that comes up here and there so I thought I'd throw it out there. Kari

Hi Mary,
When we first started going I didn't notice a lot of changes but she was doing well overall ( it was right after the feeding tube was done) so I kept going. Since February she has been having belly problems and has had so many colds etc. When she gets a treatment you can just see thats she feels more comfortable whether its cold symptoms or gi issues etc. Yesterday was the first time we've done this special session they do. its available one day every other month and its our chiro plus another one and they work together for twice as long as a regular session. She has been having such high muscle tone lately and she was so relaxed, not posturing at all by the time they were done. It was short lived of course. She was moving her fingers more than she has lately and stretching out her arms. They did something with her ribcage that looked awful but I notice a lot that one side of her rib cage seems higher than the other. Anyway, its kind of hard to explain but she clearly looks better afterward. I havent' seen much developmental improvement but we've had so many other issues (as usual). My friend who referred me there said her son who has a genetic disorder had a big improvement in eating with some of the work they did with him. I went into it planning to give it 6 mo and see but I defintely think I see reasons to continue for now. If only insurance would pay, I'd be there every week! Does that help at all? kari

Hi Kari,

Thanks. And yes, you were helpful.

Devon had CT done when she was younger and we did it for about 6 sessions. I have to say that the results were neither here or there. I would love to continue but at $160 a session and not seeing any real results, we were not inclined to continue.

I am very happy that Kristen is benefiting. That's just fantastic!
BTW, KEEP THE K PICTURES COMING! I love the new one, it is beautiful!!!

At that price I'm not sure i'd be doing it. Ours is only about $50 a session. Thank goodness! Kari
PS How are the seizures?

Hi Kari,

The episodes are still happening. They are not as frequent, about once a day. Not as intense, she doesn't cry or as much or loud.
I want to follow up with the director of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at NYU where they did the VEEG and see if they can shed more info. He told us Devon did not have seizure spikes when she had these episodes and I need to dig deeper and find out what's the dilly.

Thanks for asking.

We went to a chiropractor that a friend recommended. I would just ask around to other parents in your area or therapists to see who is good. I hope you find someone. Good luck. Kari
