DD and slow growth?

My son Dylan is 19 months old and delayed. He has not grown at all in over 2 months. Has anyone else child experienced this. His weight was slow because he has feeding issues because of his low tone, but that is catching up, but his height is still at 31 1/4 inches and has been for at least a couple of months. We are still trying to find out a dx for him. Anyone has experience with this or knowledge. His developmental pediatrician says not to worry until he is 2 and then we may have to see an endocrinologist regarding this. Thoughts?

Thanks.

Hi Jody -

I'm out of my arena on this one, but I think I'd be asking to see someone in a couple of months, not wait until he's 2.

Hi Jody,
When Krisitn goes through a rough period and not getting enough nutrition her growth does slow and then usually catches up when it picks up. There are kids with growth hormone problems and that might be what endocrine would test for. I don't know much about that. Hope he has a growth spurt soon for you. Kari

My son has growth-hormone deficiency, and the endocrinologist said that it's very common for kids to change growth/size patterns between birth and age 2 or 2 1/2: big babies can become tiny kids, and vice versa, and it's perfectly normal. Changes in growth patterns after age 2 or 3 are what generally raise the growth-hormone red flags. That may be why your doctor wants to wait.

HTH,
Lynn
