My DS is 6 months old and he still doesn't turn towards sound. I know he can hear because he will startle when there is a loud sound or when I turn on the water in the tub.

It's hard when your instincts are telling you that somethings not quite right. I would just keep working with him and watch how he does over the next 6 months. It doesn't sound like he's that far behind with speech development: http://www.ivillage.com/babys-first-year-developmental-milestones/6-a-127191?p=3

I saw that you posted over on the Hearing Impairments board, I was going to suggest that. Sometimes babies work harder in some development areas than other. At least you are aware and observant and can get him early intervention if it's needed in the future. Please keep us posted on how he's doing, (((HUGS))).

Thank you for your support. Nothing new to repot and he is now 6 and a half months, except he definite hears sounds. He will sometimes turn towards sound bc we've been intentionally testing I'm. But for some reason he will not turn towards a voice. Even if it's completely silent. He can be a wake lining on his belly looking straiht ahead and not turn to me when I talk to him. I just don't understand why? It's still a bit of a concern and I just can't let it go.

You might want to start keeping a notebook with developmental concerns written down.

I would try to get the pediatrician to give you a referral to have his hearing checked by a specialist.
