They have something called chewy tubes that you can make necklaces and bracelets out of for chewing, I have also been told you can do the same thing with aquarium tubing...

My son also has eye contact problems, we just try to remind him to give us his eyes...and eventually we do get them...

Hi! I had this same problem. The answer was vitamins. If you buy Mineral Rich and give one tablespoon once a day you should see results in two weeks. (I saw results in 3 days but I think it usually takes longer) You can go up to two tablespoons. Only side effect is loose stools. I give at night. The consultant who told me this says most children stop chewing with acidolpholus three times a day, but for the hard core chewers whose shirts are what (mine actually swallowed buttons) its Mineral Rich. This REALLY works for chewing. It can help for other things as well (like noise sensitivity) but its most miraculous effect for us has been the chewing - its the magnesium and zinc. Leg aches also stopped after this and it should help w/headaches although that hasn' been a problem for us.

Eye contact is a problem with all these kids. Simple tracking exercises with a pencil and reminders can help.

Try this - it worked a miracle for us.

Lack of eye contact can be Aspbergers syndrome. You can order a chewing toy

Therapro.com that is for older children.

I agree with Lynn on the chewy tube!! It has worked wonders for my 6 yr old!!!! He use to chew up his shirt until it was soaked and now with his chewy tube on he uses that instead. It comes as a tubing many many feet of it, I actually got his from the OT for a buck! She made it tight enough so that it only goes to his mouth and does not hang further than that. It works, ask the OT if you child goes to one, other wise check out the therapy site listed in one of the posts to your message.

Good luck
