Hi everyone. Im Jenna, mom to Gina (7) Christopher (6) Maya (3) and G-Anna (7 months). I am a foster to adopt mommy, and love every moment of it!

We have had G-Anna since she was released from the hospital at 14 days old. She started her life really rough .. she was preemie, (only 3# 11oz) and had other ... "challenges" coming into this world. She is doing FANTASTIC now though! Yes, she is delayed, and has sensory issues, but she's a trooper and is getting through it all! :)

We are in the process of working with her therapists to determine what extent her SI issues are .... one thing we do know is she NEEDS pressure ... when burping her, we nearly have to POUND her back (light taps? Heck no! she wont settle unless we pound LOL) ... she needs to be held tightly .. she needs to really be able to FEEL what is happening ...

she is also having feeding issues with sensory situations. if we put food into her mouth that isnt her formula, she cant take it ... we are preparing to work with an OT (Mealtime Connections) for her feeding issues.

so anyways .... figured Id introduce our family here to the board, since it looks like I have an opportunity to get to know other SI families. :) Not always easy, but hey .. this is our kids and its always worth it! :)

(BTW, before the year is up, G-Anna's adoption will be finalized! :)

Hi. Wow, it is great that you figured out so soon. K was 1 1/2 before I even heard of SID. I just found that holding her tight put her to sleep. She sounds sensory seeking. my K is that way too. Been an interesting journey. K also has CP, so the lines are a little crossed between what is her CP and what part is SID. And together is an interesting combo. I hope the feeding therapy helps. K was lucky and never had feeding issues.

Hello and welcome to the board. Congrats on your soon to be finalized adoption. How exciting. G Anna is very lucky to have you as a mommy.

My son has loads of sensory issues, but very few related to food. His is more visual and smell. He won't eat certain things if they are prepared wrong. My little guy however is starting to show signs of sensory issues. He HATES the way long spaghetti noodles feel and he won't touch them. He also doesn't like sticky stuff...so we'll see what happens with that.

I hope you can get the feeding issues solved quickly....keep us posted as to how your little one is doing....and again welcome.
