Hi everyone. I am Shawnee, married with 4 kids and one granddaughter.

I am interesting in information on Sensory Seeking. I have a 4 year old son who was evaluated at around 2 by EI, and was told that is what he has. His pediatrician has evaluated him and says he is not on the ASD spectrum at all. He is beyond the norm for learning, he reads and uses the computer, he listens, makes eye contact, interacts well, communicates well, all systems seem to be up to par. When he was around 6 months old, as soon as he had good neck control, he started the side to side thing, the "tick tock". That is almost constant. Now he often does that and add in the sounds, they are hard to describe but similar to making a "moo" sound, flapping his hands and slapping his chest/abdomen. He can do this when he is not occupied with something, or when he is. He can sit still for short periods, long enough to read a book or two, or watch a segment of a show. Play is a little harder, he is not easy to engage in a lot of activities. He will sit still much better if he has someone with him. Since he has no cognitive impairment that we can see, I have not been terribly worried about this thus far. However, when he starts school, this could obviously become a distraction, and therefore a behavioral issue. I am looking for information and advice about therapies and strategies for this activity.

This may or may not be of note to anyone, but he received no vaccines at all until the age of two, and had received one shot approx. every three months since then, so I am not worried about vaccines being a factor in this case, though I'm not sure they don't add to the issue.

Thanks,

Shawnee
