(((hugs))) Welcome to the board. It is never easy when the people who are supposed to help you....don't! I know that feeling. It's great that you are fighting for your son. Is he getting speech therapy with the school? If his sensory issues are impacting his ability to learn, which it sounds like they are. Won't hold a pencil comes to mind...then the school needs to provide OT. Did the school test his fine motor skills? It could be that he has low tone and it is making it hard for him to hold a pencil and write.

I know your son doesn't have a dx of autism, but maybe joining an autism support group you might be able to access better therapy. A lot of autistic children have sensory issues. I am a member of our local autism group. And while my son is autistic...there are a lot of parents there with just sensory kids looking for answers....and help.

If the school didn't do an OT evaluation...then you can request one. Make sure to put your request in writing. They have 60 days from the time you request the eval...to do the actual eval.

If there is any other way I can help you please feel free to ask.
