Hi ladies,

My son, CME, gets OT once a week through a private clinic which specializes in SID. I love love love this place and he's made great progress since starting in Sept. Problem, is we have to pay out of pocket and our insurance (BCBS)

I have no idea, but I'll ask Janelle OT when she comes today.

I have BCBS and they pay a portion of our OT. But different plans have different benefits.

THe rest of ours is paid by our county, where we live, though a progam here. I live in a county with a lot of funding and very few "speacial needs" kids, so they are more than willing to always help us. That coverage only goes through the age of 3, and then it can be paid for by the school district- but I do not want to change pre-schools, and send my child there. I want to keep her at her own pre-school, which will pay about $100 a month towards therapy.

Can your pedi and OT write a letter to BCBS explaining how you need this coverage? Can you change to a different BCBS plan?

Odds are, your insurance will not pay for OT if his diagnosis is only SPD (see the other thread here where I talked about SPD not being a recognized disorder).

He initially started OT around 6-8 months since he was so premature (27 weeker)
