Hi. I have a 5 year old boy with Hydrocephalus who is doing great and developmentally where he should be (but this wasn't the case when he was younger!). We recently had him re-assessed by a Physical Therapist b/c he has trouble sitting up for long periods of time and gets fatigued easily. This has gotten him in trouble at school during circle time and other activities.
The physical therapist has a decent understanding of sensory issues. She feels he has sensory seeking behaviors for vestibular and proprioceptive areas. She recommended we do the Astronaut Program with my son. This involves spinning him on a board while listening to music and then watching his eye movements. I have not found much research re:this method and wonder if anyone else has tried it? I am a speech therapist and my understanding of some programs like this is that they don't generalize to everyday skills.
