I've been a lurker for months, but I've never posted before because I wasn't convinced until recently that we had a real sensory problem.

SPD is a nuerological disorder and therefore, by nature is inconsistant.


You very much belong here.


My DD is quite the conundrum as well. She is tactily defensive in a SERIOUS way, but due to her sensory seeking, proprioception needs, also love to be HUGGED TIGHTLY, wear TIGHT CLOTHING, and she touches and play with deep touch toward others, bumping, thumping, falling, etc.


She is both under and overresponsive - give the situation.


That is what makes SPD such a hard thing to manage. What works one day, doesn't the next. What they want changes and they can't explain why, how, etc.

Welcome! I would also recommend the book "Sensational Kids." I found it to be a bit more user/parent friendly.

You'll get great ideas here!
