They have both the wiggle pad and the weighted lap pad at school for Aidan. Don't know where the OT got them but I can ask if you want. The wiggle pad is always on his chair at school and it does help to a point, he would be worse off without it, but he still has to get up once in a while. At home we have the wooden chairs that grow with the kids (like the Tripp Trapp Chair "KinderZeat") and they are great, very hard to tip over. I think I got them on-line at One Step Ahead.

Aidan has a hard time with noise too. He 7 so he is older than Gabe and is better able to deal with the noise now at this age. At school and at home he has a really hard time concentrating if there is too much noise. Even if Rory is humming he can't do his homework.

I just did a quick search and I think this is what Aidan has on his chair at school

Good luck!

hi-
kaia is the same way with sounds, she is so sensative that she even hears bugs fly and it drives her into a tantrum.

we are in the process now of starting a listening program, we had the OT come here today for a first visit and she will be doing some observations of her at school and at the sensory gym.

it is supposed to help with sound sensativity, i would ask your OT or SLP about it.

good luck with everything

I don't want to sound pushy, but we treated with earplugs and found out by ds audiologist that it

This is a good website that explains many different kinds of hearing issues.

Aidan has the round disc one that is bumpy on one side and smooth on the other. He is a big sensory seeker too and always on the edge of his seat. So far the disc has been helping him a bit at school.

Aidan still gets OT at school but only once a week, I wish it was more. Something to think about before his next IEP meeting in January. We do have some sensory stuff at home and I have the book "The Out of Sync Child Has Fun" that does have some great ideas in it.I know it can be tough to find the time to do your own type of OT at home. I can imagine that you must be pretty big with the baby and more tired than usual so it must be very hard to get going - I think it is normal for you to be slacking a bit now!
