Hello, My name is Catherine, I have a 12 year old son who I suspect has Sensory Integration disorder and a 3 year old Who has been diagnosed with it.

I have been a lurker for awhile and thought I would join in. I have a 3 year old boy who was diagnosed with sensory Processing disorder at 1. He had a speech delay because he couldn't slowdown and focus at all. He got a special ed teacher and OT with Early intervention and it worked wonders with him. He's in a preschool program now, with both special needs kids and regular kids. He gets speech therapy and OT at school. His progress has been amazing. He talks, He's toilet trained, and the nonstop tantrums are gone. It does get overwhelming, and you do mourn the loss of the perfect child but he's loving and affectionate and very sweet (when he's happy) lol. School helps me too because these kids can be very high needs and it gives me a bit of a breather. anyway I thought I'd introduce myself and say that there is light at the end of the tunnel for this.

Hi Catherine, I'm glad you introduced yourself! We look forward to getting to know you better.

Your 3 yo sounds like he's making great progress with therapy. Do you think you'll look into any for your older son?

Hello,

I'm not looking into any therapy for my older son. He has adjusted around his issues for the most part. He hated tight clothes , so now he wears looser clothes. Loud noises used to bother him,he's used to them now. He still cannot get to sleep without me sitting in the room with him.Wer'e working on that. He's 12 already. When he was little there was no such thing as Early Intervention. He is alright though. If you didn't know him you wouldn't notice him being any different than any other kid.

I hope that you can get the sleep issue worked out, I'm sure it will happen if you continue to work on it.
