Hello my name is Jen, I have been on this journey since my daughter (now 5) was a year old. It has been a long journey so far, and I'm sure I have many more bumps in the road to overcome.
Ari is now diagnosed with SPD, speech and language delay, ADHD and PDD-NOS. I have come to accept all of these diagnoses, now we are just trying to make everyday easier for her. In addition to Ari i have two boys ages 3 1/2 and 6 1/2. She will be starting kindergarden in the fall. She has been going to weekly sessions of OT since 2 1/2, and twice weekly sessions of speech since 2 1/2. She also goes to a preschool with "average" children as well as children with special needs.
She is sensory defensive, and sensitive to sounds and touch manly foods and textures some. She now has glasses for her far sightedness...
Right now my main concerns are getting her some sensory things to do at home, do a "mayer johnson" like program with her for a schedule board, keep her from leaving the house and going in the driveway/yard/cars without an adult outside, stop hoarding food, and learn things that she will need for kindergarden.
So in the next month or so i am going to sew her a sensory swing for inside and out, making different weighted bean bags and stuff like this... I have already made her a weighted blanket, and weighted baby doll.
