hi, my son also has severe verbal apraxia of speech and mild global apraxia...and he loves to put everything in his mouth....at 26mo we had to watch him like a hawk because he would put anything he found in his mouth...now he is 37mo old and he still puts a lot of stuff in his mouth...we still watch him like a hawk...but it has gotten better....he doen't have to eat all his toys...

this is what we do...pretty much everything that you are doing...we also have or are still doing...we use these vibrating toys called jigglers...they are nice....we also do thick drinks trough straws....so I can only say....keep doing what you are doing...it will get better...i promise...

we also had a huge drooling problem...but that got better as gabe got older and we did all his oral motor exercises...

are you on the speech disorders board? there are a lot of kids on there with apraxia/dyspraxia....if you haven't stopped there I highly recommend doing so....a lot of great people there with lots of great info!!!

Thank you so much...she is just starting straw drinking-so when she gets the hang of it I will definitely try thick drinks (it's a suggesting that I haven't heard)! I

you are not alone!!! gabe was a good straw drinker but he was putting the whole straw in his mouth and not using the right part of his mouth to suck....we make thick drink using kids yogurt and milk to thin it out...the drinkable yogurt wasn't thick enough....apple sauce works well too! and thinned out pudding....you can have fun with it...at first gabe wouldn't drink it but now he does ok....we don't do the thick drinks as much as we used to but when I see that his oral seeking issues are coming out again we start it up...and that seems to help...also just knowing and having a sensory diet helps...with everything including his horrible transitioning skills!
