I think my 4 year old may have some sensory issues. He walks on his tip toes, calls himself by his name instead of using me or I often, does not like loud noises, licks hands sometimes, puts things in mouth, overly sensitive to smell, is weird about food, speech articulation problems, coordination problems, does not like to ride a bike, does not like to have his hair brushed, not great at eye contact, w-sits a lot. The older he gets- the more I am noticing. We have him in speech therapy for his articulation, but where do I begin to get him help? He will go to a private Catholic school for Kindergarten. He is there now for pre-K and is doing fine, but like I said- he seems off to me. He is playing soccer and we are really noticing the coordination that he is lacking in comparison to other boys his age. The toe walking is also becoming a big issue.

The school district tested him for it all when he was enrolling in the speech at age 3. He is not "extreme" so they do not feel that his issues warrant services. He is getting speech, but it is a horrible schedule and location, so we are doing the private route this year. Last year, he did go through the district though and he is close to ARDing out as they cut him back from 24 hours a month to 3. I may call them and look at retesting b/c the toe walking has become such an apparent issue. It is weird how it is getting so much worse.

I agree with pp talk to the school. If that doesn't work talk to the ped. I wopuld definatly have an evaluation done for speech and SPD.
