Can someone be both a sensory seeker and avoider?

I think they can be. My daugther is mostly a seeker, but does show avoidence with some things like foods.

I'm new here and haven't formally introduced myself yet but I had to comment on the ear infection - my son has ruptured his ear drum twice in the last 6 months and only complained about pain about an hour before the rupture occurred (when he was trying to sleep), I also thought it was strange that he never mentioned his ear - as far as I know, ear infections are pretty painful - I think my son is a sensory avoider but we don't have a formal Dx yet. we are waiting for an appt to OT.
